WORK ENVIRONMENT

casual, supportive, team-oriented, fast-paced, flexible schedule, high-pressure

COMMENTS:

Would highly recommend the company, if you are willing to "work" and deal with a bit of stress from the random bizarre and disgruntled callers that can sometimes seem impossible to please.
Best company in which I have ever been employed.

COMPENSATION:

Started as a Customer Service Rep. within the year I had met my stats. and advanced to a Sr. CSR. Then I had applied for a position as a Tech Support Coordinator and was accepted upon my stats and interview.
Thorough training and I received ample support from my seniors and co-workers.
I was rewarded with considerable raises and treated as an equal team member very step of the way.
With six months of service you are granted two weeks vacation, some personal time days (sick or whatever), and excellent health benefits that are extremely hard to come by these days.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

hierarchical, strict, cut-throat, old-fashioned, disorganized, unprofessional

COMMENTS:

Pay was average, nothing above any other carriers for a customer service position. Did not get very much respect for doing a good job, or going above and beyond. Benefits were horrible, I can get better benefits through a cheap insurance company at my school (University of Colorado at Colorado Springs). The competition (T-Mobile) paid for all my health costs, my education, and vested my 401k immediately. Verizon tried to save money by limiting healthcare with tons of red tape through Cigna and Medco, also limited my education by making it only work related, and required a 3 year employment to vest my 401k. What crappy benefits from such a large company. You can tell that the money they save is obviously going to the fatcats upstairs, not the people who make the business run. There certainly is job security for anyone who wants to get yelled at by customers and treated crappy by this company. Dont expect them to help you in any times of family emergencies either. Not very much opportunities for career advancements unless you want to work 50 hours a week with no gratitude. Also, Verizon does not give breaks to their retail employees, only 1 hour lunches. Don't expect a job close to where you live, even if you live across the street from a Verizon store. Also, dont expect your managers to know anything about your job that they supervise. They only know how to supervise, and if you need help, your pretty much screwed. The 3 week training you endure is a joke! All you do is become indoctrinated on how Verizon is so great! INDOCTRINATED being the KEY WORD! The work environment is also very ungrateful and demanding, as long as you like people screaming at you all day you should be fine.

COMPENSATION:

29K a year, no personal time or vacation, a once a year bonus
