I worked at USAA for two years as a Lead System Engineer. It was the worst job of my life. There is no training or quality control in IT, with the result that crap gets produced by well-meaning incompetents. Managers are the worst I have experienced in my career. They are incompetent, poorly trained, and don't care at all about their employees. The last manager I had when I quit was a psychopath, and I figured if that was the type of personality they were going to promote, then I had to leave.
The benefits and pay were fantastic, but not worth the cost in misery on myself and my family. If you're looking for a job in IT, do yourself a favor and stay away from this company.
