COMMENTS:

The people in this department work extremely hard and are very underpaid. They honestly enjoy their profession but earn less than they deserve and have to deal with coming home late constantly. My supervisors were always really cool and laid back with me. As an intern, I would sign-up to work at any one of the home games in any of the various sports. I would come early to prepare for the games marketing events and then carry out the promotions during the game. For example, for the basketball games, I would do things like choose the person who takes the "chick-fil-a" half-court shot and shoot t-shirts from coke guns during time-outs. It was fun for the most part, just a lot of manual labor because there are so much free things to give out and haul at each game. I discovered that I definitely didn't want a career in sports marking because of the very low pay, politics, and long hours. I thought I really liked sports, but I think you need to be the type who eats, drinks, and sleeps sports to put up with the long hours and crappy pay.
