Like the sum up states it had been a roller coaster ride. This company has up's, down's, politics and a blend of employees to make up an interesting politically charged mess with many key people unknowledgeable about what actually happens in the upper workings of this company. This company can be very supportive but it can also turn against you in a split second if the upper management somehow thinks they can gain from it. The employees for the most part are good people. The ownership group however is just that an ownership group that knows little about the real workings in the company - they try many quick fix solutions, the next best great business philosophy for fixing issues and are quick to modify there plans in mid stream without communicating it to the employees. Blame is often dished out without any evidence of failure or wrong doing. Communication and change management are very poorly executed in this company by the three major stakeholders and it's operations leaders. Favoritism and lack of consistancy in treatment of employees is very evident. They keep a select group of "yes" people around them nationally to stroke their egos, and those people do as they are told-never rocking the boat and going along with decisions whether they are justified, good, bad or produce no real change at all. Upper management asks for opinions and input and then rarely follows through on any changes that benefit the overall workflow, customer satisfaction or employee moral. When it gets hard they quit and revert to there old ways.
Pros - initially supportive and give hope- they can make you believe they want progress and change. This company is loaded with potential to improve. They are willing to send people for training sometimes. Flexible schedule - sometimes too flexible that causes attendance issues with employees.
Con - Salary is biased and wages are fine if you are male; if you are a woman however you will be underpaid and earn less than any male counterpart performing equivalent work . In the matter of overtime-they go without it as much as they can- not you performing it - them paying for it. Ethics are questionable. People are disposable. People are in some ways bullied and belittled at times. It's a good thing it's a privately owned company because this company would not stand up under the scrutiny of being public and accountable.

Don't know who wrote that other ridiculous review but I have a good idea. Somebody just showed it to me. I've worked at a few different companies and thank my lucky stars that I find myself at NPE. Can't think of a more sincere, honest and hard-working bunch of managers and staff. The company has grown like crazy for 10 years now and it is very profitable and successful. With the tough times ahead, I consider myself lucky to be with such a well-managed outfit.

I read that review from the other person and i know exactly who it is. I have to thank NPE for finally firing this person because it was long overdue and obviously they are still bitter. Anyway, it's always been a great company. The management is open and honest and very supportive and the company has achieved tremendous growth and success during the past 10 years. The company has helped me to obtain the training and skill development I require and I hope I can continue working with them until the day I retire. Their commitment to improving the company through the "lean" process has been truly impressive. I personally have found that aspect to be very invigorating and motivating. However, there is no pleasing some people and I feel sorry for the company when I see how hard they try to help some people who have no capacity for gratitude and who will experience dissatisfaction wherever they go.
Pros- Good salary, sincere and hard-working management, good training opportunities, solid commitment to process improvement (e.g. lean), many terrific people.
Cons- very busy at times, can be high-pressure on occasion. Sometimes our suppliers don't perform as promised and it can make us look bad to the customer. I would like more vacation but the company provides the norm.

This company is sinking faster than the Titanic. For some reason a year ago, they hired two senior managers who put their last company into bankruptcy. Of course the same thing is happening to this company a year later. They have recently dismissed many recent new hires, and a rash of long term employees are bailing out just as quick.
This has lead them to hire new employees to fill the vacant positions. They are offering attractive salaries and benefits to attract new employees. As well as telling them the usual story of how the company is flourishing in the hot Alberta economy. Little as the new employee know, NPE is only hiring to fullfil their short term goals and their employment will only last 3-6 months.
The skillset of the senior management group is extremely poor. There are not two individuals that gets along. There is nothing but in-fighting among this group and nothing is accomplished. The moral in this company is very poor, and the senior management group does not know why. If they were "Real" managers, the answer would be obvious.
They are trying to implement "lean" into their business model. Therefore, they have all read up on the latest books. Their daily vocabulary involves regurgitation of buzz words from their latest readings. The end result is a very bad actor trying to recite his or her lines.
Bottom line - DO NOT join this company. Sure the offer will be attractive in the beginning. But is it worth the headache 3 months from now when you are waiting in line at the unemployment office?
