WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working at Kmart:

I have been work at a Kmart (New Jersey) and the one big thing I have to say I lack of communication with the managers (in another word they act like they don’t hear you). They work you to death and give you a bunch of hours you never asked for making you full time with no benefits. They don't hire enough of workers and you are tired just working all of those part time hours. The pay is no good because they start you at the minimum wage. The staff is great though and a pleasant to work with. The customers are a pleasant also. Like I said before the negatives of Kmart is the pay is very, very low; too many hours for a part timer and lack of communication among managers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working at Kmart:

A low low blow Kmart
When You fire the elderly that worked for you for 30 some years with one trumped up bad review made by someone you already fired for misconduct. When this person has done nothing to you short of great the years before. Even winning a contest for the best stores sales the year before. Working every day 2 to 5 hours past scheduled time on salary wages and missing earned vacations for you. Watching idiot after idiot get promoted before them but yet still good enough to keep on year after year waiting for you to say hey I noticed you and you got a gift with sales. You do discriminate against age and I warn anyone getting close to 30yrs old or 30 years in or more to get out now while they can still be employed by a company that cares about loyal long term employees. If they have not promoted you by 30 you never will be promoted don't believe their lies. Even if they send you to Chicago it is not a sure thing a waste of time/money for pizza you don't get.. You have to know someone fairly important or go to dinner or to bars with the upper management to even be considered for a store or even to keep your job.. work really means nothing to them unless you do major sucking up you don’t even have to work then. If you are their friend not hard working employee but friend you get to stay and the Chicago big shots have no idea that this goes on because they have never personally met the people that get fired they re-lie on the integrity of people that have no integrity because they really don't know them very well either. Kmart when you fire someone do you look at their history is there anything you really take into consideration besides age, health and money. Do you ever ask yourself why this person was here so long and why he didn't get promoted. I tell you why its because they kept him down because he worked dam hard in a company store that didn't want to promote him because they used him to train others with his incredible talent and he worked miracles in some of the worst stores that is why he didn't get promoted because he was used best this way ,while you promoted the useless because lets face it store managers do nothing but push loyal assistants to do it all. While they are doing the next promotion.. While most of them can’t even run a register if asked. Do you ever think the store manager gets rid of those that he fears most taking his job because this is what goes on. All you care about are whether some district manager or lower can use a iphone and upload pictures from a store that they didn’t even do the display for. Yes! they lie someone else did it not the texter.
But does it really matter, do you really care as long as it gets done..
Even with all this deceit he still stayed loyal like a pet dog with a biscuit dangling above him. I never understood the loyalty to you Kmart . I always knew you would let him down. I’m crying now because You know what you did Kmart!!
You killed the dog because this dog is going to die now from depression, illness and starvation, loss of home.
maybe he'll put a bullet to his head.. I don't know yet..
I'll let you know. …
So heres a Cheer to you Kmart for doing such a good job cleaning up the stores again of good hard
working employees..
Give me a ..

Working at Kmart:

I first started working at Kmart when I graduated high school, in order to get money for college. I have done it all, worked as a sales associate, cashier, service desk and replenishment. The pay has remained at minimum wage, which absolutely sucks.
Just a heads up, after the Christmas season, the hours get cut insanely. You go from about forty to ten hours a week. However, if you're a favorite and you work well, you will get an advantage of having more hours. A tip for being a favorite: have a personality! The managers love associates that can joke around and still work well. You don't need to kiss ass, just have a bubbly personality. Nobody wants to work with someone that is similar to a brick wall. I'm still getting thirty hours a week while the part timers are getting about fifteen max, and the full timers are getting thirty two.
Some of the coworkers deserved to be fired, however since Kmart needs all the help they can get, they refuse to fire them. You can be very lazy
And take extra breaks and have no punishments. However, this varies from store to store, but is true for my store. Many of the full timers are my favorites though, since they respond well to people with good attitudes and help them out.
Don't expect a raise though, we haven't gotten raises for four years. They are extremely flexible with the schedule and usually give you requested time off if you ask two weeks before the new schedule is posted.

K Mart Salary and Benefits:

Starting and current: 7.25 an hour.

Working at K-mart :

This company is horrible , the managers are two-faced and they don't pay enough . I was working in service desk , doing things what manager should be doing cause they are lazy. They were paying me 7.81 hr . Company does not care about their co workers, managers are lazy to deal with people. A lot of people come and go in this store. I know people in sears and Kmart company that have worked for the stores and managers are all the same they are BULLIES! The managers are, it seems to me they hire anyone for manager position. They also, cut off your hours if they don't like you.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

strict, cut-throat, disorganized, political, high-pressure, bureaucratic, unprofessional

Working at K-Mart:

Good work environment, great co-workers and supervisors, and overall great customers. Worst management I ever dealt with. No communication whatsoever. They do not recognize their workers for the hard work they do. They do not inform their workers of any improvements needed, or any mistakes they made. instead every little detail of every little mistake is documented for months at a time, then when you get called in you find out just how bad of a worker you are to them. My boss has threatened me because I didn't ask the District Manager for a March of Dimes. then I got called into the office, I had a till overage(which I can say is my fault) along with a till shortage two months ago I wasn't even aware of. He then brought up a mystery shopper reported me as unfriendly which is not true because I know even at my worst times I've greeted every single customer, and have said "Have a nice day." so that to me was the biggest insult. He then brought up that I didn't ask the DM for a Sears card(which at first was a March of Dimes donation). I told him I can't bother these customers with so many questions. He said It's a federal law to ask for sears card applications. So if I want to keep my job(or obey the law because heaven forbid someone might get fined) I have to ask for their e-mail address, offer a warranty on every little item (including cheap toys, video games, whatever) ask for a donation to the March of Dimes, and then...would you like to apply for a sears card. I have to do all of this JUST to keep my part time job, as well as greet customers, tell them have a nice day. A lot of this I've been working so hard on, but was not even acknowledged for it. What K-Mart is doing is wrong, and I'm starting to question these so-called charities. Where is the money that's donated to March of Dimes going? If it's so important to ask that I almost lose my job over it, how much of the share is K-Mart getting? I absolutely do not recommend K-Mart as a job, and I wouldn't even recommend it to customers. What they're doing is sick, and I would choose Walmart any day before I choose K-Mart.

K Mart Salary and Benefits:

$8/hr starting/ending, I doubt any raises. New hires I understand are being hired at Min Wage now. No vavation time. If there was I wouldn't even work another day just to qualify for it. No bonuses, very small commissions on smart plans and credit card apps, if you even get any. the 10% discount card is ok. I never tried the benefits.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

open-door, supportive, team-oriented, fast-paced, flexible schedule

Working at K-Mart:

When i started working at K-Mart, I was 17 years of age and had just graduated highschool. The paychecks i recieved were very low im talking four hours a day low. It was easy to live off of for a while until I hit the big 18 then i had to start buying books and paying for my own cell phone bill not to mention buy my own food and help out with the rent.

Now don't get me wrong, K-Mart is a great place to work. The co-workers are a blast and even the managers and supervisors have stand out personalities. Any work enviornment where you can crack a joke with your manager in between working is worth checking out. You may call it unprofessional but im young so i call it cool. Managers don't ride you too much about not reaching sales goals but you will hear some words if you are a slacker. Promotion chances aren't THAT great though. There's this girl who started like three months before me and now she's supervisor. I heard rumors about me but im currently job hunting cause of the money so i probably won't find out. The raise for supervisor is only 50 CENTS! And they have to do double the work! It's not worth it...

All in all recommend K-Mart to any teen or young adult looking to pursue school aswell or a nice little second job!

I wish I could stay but I needs cash and K-Mart can't give me that.

K Mart Salary and Benefits:

Starting: 7.50
Current: 8.00 (California minimum wage law went up but im due for a raise soon since they will move me to another department.
