COMMENTS

I experienced a culture of micromanagement and unprofessional behavior. Favoritism was placed way above team work.

The Engineering department is unprofessional compared to every company I have ever worked at and I have worked at companies of all sizes from just 8 people up to and including Microsoft. There are no formal quality control standards. There are no formal standards for tracking who is accountable for what (this makes it very convenient if the management wants to blame you for their lack of planning and ignorance of what teamwork really means). And they will make you a scapegoat if history is any indicator (management spoke negatively about every past employee of this department). Except you might not even know it since only favored people are invited to meetings where they can say anything they want about your work without you having an opportunity to rebut. You might also have close to zero input on planning or discussing timetables.

If you decide to work here make sure you get every detail in writing. Beware any promises of an annual bonus. There are hidden strings attached. I was told that I wasn't going to get a bonus since the company didn't make 3 million a year. Never mind that most companies are considered doing very well to reach 1 million a year and that the number was never named to me until I'd been there a year. When I asked management which of the companies products were considered cool and what was it that helped them sell their products the most, I was told it was 2-3 things that I was largely and in some cases solely responsible for. Yet, in their opinion, I did not, deserve a raise, bonus or any benefits. Only after I made an issue of it was I offered some vague 'options'. Since I didn't trust management or enjoy the 'professional' work environment, I passed.

COMPENSATION

Pay was low by local and national industry standards. This job has zero benefits. No reviews. No raises. No recognition for quality work (unless you are one of the favored people at the company). No vacation time.
