I worked at this hotel for 3 1/2 years but since it was taken over by a new management company in 2006 it was increasingly difficult to deal with the hostile work environment. We had a great working team of managers and "team members" but in the last two years the team has been torn apart and the "team members" are not happy to come to work. We have had to call employees "team members" but that was just lip service. They did not care what employees had to say or why the turn over was so high. They continually bring in General managers who do not care about the community or the people they work with. They are not committed to the hotel or the team and it has made this one of the worst places I have worked at in over 15 years in the hospitality industry. The newest manager that was recently brought in has destroyed the hotel the most. He treats the staff poorly never has time to talk with the entire team just his "drones" that he recently brought in. He is not a hospitality oriented person and needs to go away. No longer is there an open door policy and he is a micro manager and does not let the managers manage their departments. He will not stay engaged in a meeting unless he does all the TALKING. If he has to listen to someone else he turns off and the meeting is cut short. I think the manager and his drones need to go back to where they came from as they obviously do not like the hotel, team members or the community.
Pay was good but it is not about the pay. You need to enjoy where you work and that was not the case with this company.
